Black Star Bags was founded by Dave Stoops in 2006 in Portland, Oregon. It began with a free sewing machine and some used fabric. At the time Dave was a bike messenger, and in need of a waterproof backpack. Not finding a bag with the features he was looking for, he took it upon himself to create the bag he wanted. Sixteen years and thousands of bags later, Black Star Bags is producing some of the best handmade waterproof bags on the streets!
